I am looking to buy a condo in the new haven county area where you can have two small dogs and possibly a basement area and deck. Any suggestions?
Thanks

I know you said New Haven County, but in Stratford (N. Fairfield County) there's a condo complex that has all you asked about, decks, basements, dog friendly....Called Far Mill River.

I live in a condo

what you seek can be problematic; reasons? Many condo associations are writing in bylaws that prohibit the number and size of dogs and pets.

Its best to ask the Realtor regarding pets- and what the association allows. Some are more liberal then others-

good luck.

Thanks for the replies it has been really hard to find a dog friendly condo because of restrictions. I will definitly try Far Mill in Stratford. It looks like it even has a pool. If anyone else has any suggestions please let me know.

There is a pool, clubhouse, walking trails (at least they did when I lived there when the place was brand new, in the 70s!), tennis courts......it's close to a lot of strip mall type places and shopping in Shelton and the new Panera Bread, yum!. Easy access to the Merritt Parkway.....I don't live there anymore, not even in CT, but know folks who live there now and love it, including my daughter's (previous) Music Therapist and her BIG dog
There seem to be lots of condo listings in Stratford, here's on in Far Mill, from realtor.com mls#N263214 They all look similar on the outside, so you'll know what your're looking for...think that was a 2nd fl unit, no basement here's one w/basement 98334908

Have you thought about buying a house? I'm selling my house for $209,000. It is 3 bedrooms, 1.25 bath, with a full basement, side deck and a detached 4 car garage. The house is on .34 acre and I put up a 100' dog run. Contact me at rdelpivo@hotmail.com if you are interested.

It seems like a nice complex I will definitely have to check them out the one with the full basement is beautiful. I love Panera Bread by the way so that would be great to be close by. It sounds like Stratford is a nice area. If anyone knows of any more suggestions please let me know it is nice to have options when buying a new condo/home. It seems that almost every single condo I have seen has a dog policy which is really frustrating. I need all the help I can get.

Have you checked out the city of New Haven? I've checked into 2 condo developments and both allowed dogs. (JohnsonSimons & 116 Crown) I'm not sure of your price range, but they can't be the only 2. MM

I believe the problem that May512 will have is finding a condo complex that accepts two dogs. Most limit you to one dog of a certain size. She needs to be very careful about this. I would specifically check what the condo association bylaws say (do not just rely on the agent's word). Even if others in the complex have two dogs, that doesn't mean that it is allowed and this could create problems for you later. Particularly if you have a nasty neighbor. Good luck, Jay
