Any suggestions on where the best "family" oriented section of town or suburb is near Norwalk?

Are there any nice rural areas near Norwalk?

It depends on what you are looking for...an apartment, townhouse or home on a few acres of land.

If you have the money, Weston is a nice, rural community east of Wilton and northeast of Norwalk. The price to live here is high but the schools are excellent and the community is very well kept.

New Caanan is a little less rural, but more rural than Wilton, Darien and Westport. Again, the home prices are sky high but the town offers very much in the way of culture and education.

If you let us know more (ie your price range) then we can help you out a little better.

The towns around Norwalk are some of the country's most desirable and expensive places to live. So be prepared to pay a lot for a home with some land. Most towns in the area have sections that are somwhat rural. Evne though it is a city, Norwalk has a section called Silvermine that is rural in character, basically one arce or more. If you want it even more rural, I would look into the second tier towns (towns not along the coast, which are denser). Easton is a beautiful small town with mostly 3 acre zoning and thousands of acres of watershed property. There are virtually no businesses there, just one general store, a couple of farm stands and one gas station. That is about as rural as you can get in Fairfield County. Northwest of Easton is Redding, which is similar. As is Weston. Hope this helps. Good luck. Jay

bridgeport is the nicer of the two because many people dont see the nice pat of bridgeport which is the northend and some of the west end which look better then certain parts of shelton and people who say that bridgeport is bad they dont know nothing because they dont even live in bridgeport to me bridgeport is nice i live there i go out and walk any hours i think why peoplesay bridgeport is bad is that they see alot of black and hispanocs living there.and u cant compare thse other little towns with 33,000 with the biggest city in ct which has about 140,000 people thats about more then 4x the population of these other near by towns. so actually the crime rate is not that bad for a big city like bridgeport......because u could combine shelton trumbull, monroe, derby, and bridgeport will have more residents then all thse towns combined if u live in bridgeport it fell safe to us its just people who no nothing about bridgeport are very quick to give there opinion without knowing anything.

for the most part nc is NOT more rural then wilton....so I would'nt say move to nc because it's more rural...that is cac-a

as for bport..are u sh-ttn me....as a whole english is almost second language there....the public schools stink...(they ad to install metal detectors in the high schools because students and teachers were afraid of being **** or stabbed)..the taxes are a joke...please tell me the benefits of home ownership and raising a family there?

you want rural..go to redding or eastion..population isn't above 10k, the schools are the best..better then wetport/nc/darien..and the a-hole per-person is much less

Redding is gorgeous and I think it would fit what you're looking for a bit better than Norwalk. (I've lived in Norwalk almost 3 years and I'm moving out to get more of a small-town feel). As Jay mentioned, Silvermine is a nice, more rural area, but I would agree that a second-tier suburb is probably a better fit for you based on what you've said so far.
