I have 2 that I got at Costco. The ones I have are good and I haven't had any problems with them. Had them for 3 years. The only thing I don't like about them is the HD isn't as sharp as some TV's I've seen displayed. But not bad for the money.
Not a TCL, but I have to say I think we're in the golden age of cheap "no brand" televisions. Moved last year into a much larger house and needed a TV for the living room to use on an existing smallish stand. Went to Walmart and picked out the cheapest 50-inch they had, which was a Hisense Roku TV for $248. I've been continually impressed with the quality of the picture and sound out of the thing and for that amount of money if it only lasts a few years or something is annoying you can afford to try something else. I've got a 9-year old Sharp Aquos 60-in in my master bedroom that has been a good TV and was very well regarded in 2011, but cost $1,400 at the time and I think out of the box the Hisense looks better. Technology moves, and generally in the right direction.
I bought a 50" last spring from WalMart. Great price, and it's working really well so far. The only thing I don't especially like is when you turn it on you then have to select what you want to watch. I was used to my TV going to wherever it was when I last turned it off. This one makes you choose TV, HDMI 1 or 2, or a streaming service.
I have a TCL Roku TV for over a year now. Very happy with it. I did also buy an Insignia soundbar that sits in front of it as I don't like the sound coming out of the back of the TV.
I got a 50 inch Nov. 2018 from Walmart. Some minor problems. Occasionally I have to unplug it and replug it because it just freezes up. Also, the sound is inadequate. Bought a sound bar which helps. The picture is very clear and bright. I do hate the remote though. You can't change stations by putting in a number. You have to flip through the whole list to get a new channel. Irritating.
I got an Element at Target and no complaints. Super cheap.
This is after returning whatever I bought first at Best Buy. Drove it 35 miles home to find out it didn't work. Not that I hate Best Buy or anything, but I had two bad experiences very close together and am no longer their customer.
I've had my Roku TCL for a year. My first flat screen/streaming TV. Got forced into it by reception options at a new house and had no idea how to choose one. A local wireless provider employee suggested it as they've used them in their offices without problems for years. Didn't want to spend a lot until I gained more experience with the technology. Didn't want some huge thing looming over the entire room.
A few minor issues getting used to it, but let's just say those can be chalked up entirely to operator error. The TV does what it's supposed to do and the image quality is more than good enough for me. There are a couple of minor things I'd change about the remote, but I have yet to own one that does everything the way I might prefer. It is small, hard to see buttons in low light and it gets lost in the couch. Agree that it can be annoying to row through the channel menu instead of being able to recall or flip back and forth between shows. I will be adding a sound bar to clarify dialogue.
