I've been without a TV for almost 2 years and just bought a new HDTV. I had it do the auto scan for antenna channels, and several are coming in very good but it missed CBS, IPTV, and ABC. I went to those channels and it's just snow and says no signal. Now what? I have no idea where to even start.

How far away from the transmitter towers do you live? What type of antenna are you using?

Go to AntennaWeb, punch in your address and it will tell you what type of antenna you need as well as which way to point it, for each station.

If you were in a fringe reception area before, there is a chance you might not receive some digital channels without boosting your antenna height/size

Well, as far as I can figure out, the NBC and Fox channels I get great reception on require the same antenna pointed in the same direction as two of the channels I don't get.

I only have some rabbit ears that came with a tube TV I bought over 10 years ago.

If your rabbit ears didn't come with a hoop then you'll have to find new rabbit ears that do. You need the hoop or something like it to get the UHF channels since a number of digital channels are located there.
