Lately I have been getting very poor service from my provider and I wonder if I can get better service from someone else. I hesitate to name my current provider here so as not to prejudice anyone's opinion.

I live in Portland, have very little choice up here. So, I use CLEAR. I got it when it was cheaper, and am locked in at the rate when we first got it in Portland ($30/month for WiMax service). Works pretty good, as we have a tower there. In CC, you have alot more in the way of choice.

Our neighborhood is "wired" with underground utilities and has a phone utility box located behind every 4th house. The other day Grande signed up a new customer (new neighbor) and the tech doing the install arbitrarily decided to disconnect my service to make room for the new customer. No notice, no warning, no nothing, he just did it. After 2 days of no service they finally arrived and laid a new cable to the next box over, 5 houses away. With the longer cable run our connection is now unreliable with the Internet constantly dropping sync and kicking me off the web. Very annoying to say the least.

When I spoke with Customer Service they offered to install a 5th phone port in our original near box, but I would have to pay for it. My initial response was a loud; "F--- YOU, strong letter to follow". Needless to say I will be paying them a visit at the Saratoga office today.

Thanks Christy, but Cox/Comcast doesn't seem to have a foothold in CC yet. I seem to be stuck between Time Warner and GrandeCom. Customer service of both or are for crap. I had a meeting with the manager at Grande this morning. We will see where it goes from here.

I currently live in Portland, I was signed up with Charter, but apparently they have sold off some of their areas to another company, its now called Cobridge Communicatios, there doesnt seem to be any change in the service yet.

When I was in Corpus I prefered Grande just because I had issues with Time Warner and AT&T, I hadnt had any problems with Grande.

Also while I would probably not use them as a primary ISP since I download alot every month, I've been impressed with Sprint's 3G and 4G the few times I've tethered my computer through my cell phone.

To their credit, Grande was here today and sorted this mess out. I'm now reconnected to my original phone/utility box and my internet connection is as it was before. We'll see how this shakes out.

We have had Grande and U-Verse. I actually liked Grande better but I think that is just because they were local and had excellent customer service in my opinion. We only went to U-Verse because we moved to an area that Grande did not cover.
