Hi all. Well I just got to corpus about a month ago and have been looking for work. I am signed up with 4 temp agencies now, dont know if they will be much help or not. I am signed up with Express, Sterling, Kelly, and LK Jordan. Also, I am applying for all of the administrative/clerical jobs that I can find on Craigslist, Monster, Careerbuilder, etc, but there just dont seem to be that many of them around here! I would really like to be able to start working in a law firm. I have taken a paralegal course and wanted to get into that field, but at this point I will take just about anything. I also have medical transcription experience and am good with typing/data entry and also computer programs. Does anyone have any advice for me?? Thanks!

This is not the time to find a job in the legal field - law firms have cut their staff and most are not re-hiring - just making the most with their current staff. Best advice would be to try something different and network to get your foot in the door. If you'd like to know more, send me your email and I'll be happy to discuss. Kim

Good luck. Even when the economy is raging, CC has one of the worst job markets in the entire state. If you don't work for the refineries, or CCAD, then you will have a VERY hard time finding a job that will provide a living wage. I'm an Air Force vet, and decided to move back to my home town (CC) when I got out. HUGE mistake! Most jobs in CC aren't advertised when the become open. Every job I had ever had there I got because I knew somebody...EVERY LAST ONE! When people in CC find a decent gig, they CLING to it, simply because of the frustration of trying to find a new job there. I feel your pain, and I wish you luck. Best thing I did to improve my situation, though, was to move to Austin! I'm making $5 an hour more than I was down there, and my wife is having a hard time deciding which job offer to take! It's the exact opposite of a CC job search. Again...best of luck to you!!!
