Interesting article I have just found on the city newspaper's website. Corpus Christ is ranked among the top 20 places to live out the national recession by BusinessWeek.com. Impressive in my opinion. Larger cities like Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio aren't even on there.

I think its because Corpus like El Paso are poor cities.. so the population live on less already.. so the recession wont have much effect on them. Humm El Paso is not on the list.. I better get packin.

Muhney you are usually wrong and probably so used to it that now you're taking blame for saying Corpus is wealthier than El Paso. You were probably correct originally and there isn't too much difference in the wealth of the two areas, however you don't want to break a tradition lol so when you corrected yourself you were wrong.

he's probably from South Texas. i found very little, if any, friendly folks down there...like you find in most of small town Texas in other regions of this great State.

It's because Corpus Christi is awesome. And as far as the people not being friendly Bellestaroftexas, it might be personal problem. This city is full of friendly people. Judging from your posts over the several months I've been on here, it sounds like you just have a hard time making friends unless they are country hillbillies like yourself.

you are probably right. everyone is different. i had no problems making friends in North Texas and here in Central Texas/Hill Country. yes i do choose to live in rural small town Texas and do go to cowboy church and my activities include rodeos, team ropin's, hunting and fishing and anything to do with the country lifestyle. nightlife, i like ole timey jamborees and country-western. so needless to say, of course i found nothing in common with the folks in South Texas. for heavens sake, you cant even buy a pair of Wranglers in the town i was in!!
oh and by the way, you cannot tell me that there is not a strong racism against "anglos". if there werent, and we werent looked differently, why would i have been "labeled" as an "anglo" first, and human second? come on now, that's like me labeling someone "black" or "african-american" first and then human. if i were not looked at differently, they wouldnt have even labeled me. if you truly feel that caucasian non-spanish speaking people "fit right in" in South Texas, then you are definitely in denial heck i worked with a woman from Canada, blonde and blue eyed and had lived there for 8 years, and she says that to this day, she does not "fit in" and isn't truly accepted. and she CHOOSES to live down there, she even bought a house there! (because she makes good money), so no she does not have a bad attitude. she was very jovial, friendly, approachable.

I'm sorry things didn't work out for you here. It really is a great city though and I wish you could appreciation it for what it is. Yes there is some racism here, but it's everywhere. Sad but true. I'm anglo and fit in just fine, but like you said, everyone is different. You don't have to love the place or even make it your home but you also don't always have to give such a negative view to outsiders. It's not as bad as you always make it out to be on these message boards. Corpus Christi has its share of problems but it also has a lot of great things going for it.
