I don't expect Disney will be building any new parks anytime soon. Nevermind the political climate... they're just crazy, crazy spendy for a family to enjoy.

^^ I can't speak for Disney World since I have never been, but I went to Disney Land once when I had a single infant.... now I have four kiddos ages 6-13 and don't feel the need to ever go back. Thank goodness they've never asked me to go either.

I can't stand over paying to stand in lines... Shlitterbaughn last year was a huge let down because of this and I went on a Monday... I used to love Shlitterbaughn as a young person.

This is stupid for a number of reasons.

1. AsAbove was referring to the theme park, not the music festival.

2. Travis Scott didn’t “let people die”. That’s the dumbest argument in the book. The combination of LiveNation planners and NRG security failed. Whatever role you’d like to put blame on Texas lack of regulations is up to you to decide. If Travis Scott “let people die”, he wouldn’t be allowed to be headlining festivals again (which he currently is). That’s not to say Travis had no role in the chaos, his Twitter feed (now deleted) is all you have to look at to see the promotions of violence. But to go the east route, put it on the artist and let the security and event planners of the hook is asinine.

As far as what this has to do with Texas, it’s not rocket science. Texas is not a desirable touristic state. It’s better than it used to be but it’s no Florida, California, Vegas etc etc. Nothing close.

I didn't know there was a theme park called astro world so I stand corrected. I still blame him for what happened at his concert/festival/whatever it was.

He shares blame because of his tweets (which yes is a huge deal). When you hold a huge loyal following, people listen to these dumb things and take it more literal than intended (as seen by Travis’ tweets and Astroworld as well as Trump’s speech before the Capitol riots). Both of these public figures have huge loyal followings that took what their guys told them and ran away with it.

That’s where the blame starts and ends. To say Travis stood up there and watched them die is too far. And the reason this matters is because that’s going the east route and not holding all the parties accountable (Live Nation, NRG security etc). Not to mention event officials that should’ve called it off way earlier when the situation was getting out of hand (caused by the gate jumó Rees influenced by Twitter). If it were true that they were performing while seeing people in the crowd die, Travis nor Drake would be performing anymore and both already are.

Anyway this topic was for 4 months ago. Was just pointing that out. But I do agree with AsAbobe that Texas isn’t a tourism focused state and that’s why we don’t these kind of events or amusement parks as seen in Florida, California etc. Texas has a working personality more so than a leisure personality

Doesn't Dallas get too much snow/freezing rain/cold weather to preclude year-round operation? Isn't it real hot in the summer? I know Disneyland and Disneyworld can get hot but them don't have weeks in a row over 100°, 38°C.

Very true. Too cold in Winter and too hot during Summer.

Yup, from about 1995-2005 each of the three major cities in Texas (before Austin took off) had it's own Six Flags Park. AstroWorld and WaterWorld were Houston's which closed the same year Hurricane Katrina destroyed New Orleans's Six Flags park. The park in New Orleans is still there, but abandoned and I beleive AstroWorld is just parking for Reliant Stadium now.

Anywhere south of Texas is too far out of the way and simply doesn’t have the population to justify a major theme park. If they were to build one I am certain it would be somewhere in between San Antonio and Austin along I-35.

I just don't see Disney in Texas happening actually.
It could definitely happen near New Braunfels. Somewhere in the SA/Austin corridor on I-35 would make the most sense.
