No. America is racist, and given how much the federal government does to disenfranchise non-Whites via their highly discriminatory programs aimed at hurting minorities, the police themselves would probably be helping abduct an Hispanic, Asian, or Black...bla bla bla...is that the silly sort of answer you're looking for, OP?

Give us all a break, would you?

I think they would have.

This wasn't the case of some girl from a broken family running off with another relative.

A crazy dude murdered half a family, blew up his own house, then ran off to the wilderness with a kidnapped teenage girl.

At first they thought it was likely the guy had bombs, of course they went all out.

/Though I must say that I found the amount of fire power they brought in a bit disconcerting...

You're asking the wrong question. The question should be: if Hannah were not attractive, would the media be obsessed with her?

I hadn't heard of Hannah Anderson but a pretty young black girl (Alexis Murphy)went missing a few days ago a few states over and its been in the news every day here.

I really think being young and pretty gets you the coverage, race likely has little to do with it. Plenty of old folks of all colors and genders with Alzheimers wander off every day, you never hear a peep.

The Amber Alert system is designed for cases in which it is suspected that a child has been abducted. I would not expect it to be activated for an adult, with or without evidence of foul play.

AMBER Alert - America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response

http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/newsroom/pdfs/amberfaq.pdf

When adults with Alzheimer's wander off, the local media usually make announcements to notify the community.

The only current active alert is for a little African American girl:

Amber Alert Case

One of the latest was for a boy with a Hispanic surname:

Police: Rhode Island child found safe after 2 found dead | South - WCVB Home

In the Native American community:

To answer the original question:

http://www.amberalert.gov/pdfs/11_amber_report.pdf, in 2011:

NUMBER AND CHARACTERISTICS OF CHILDREN REPORTED MISSING
Children involved in AMBER Alert activations were predominantly boys at 51% (n=101), compared to
girls who represented 49% (n=96).
Forty-eight percent (48%, n=95) of children involved in AMBER Alerts were White, 33% (n=65) were
Black, 14% (n=27) were Hispanic, 3% (n=5) were Biracial, and 2% (n=3) were Asian. American Indian
children represented less than 1% (n=1) as did the unknown race of 1 child. AMBER Alerts were issued at
a rate of 48% for White children whereas Minority children represented 52%.

Edited to add: it appears that an Amber Alert was not issued in Alexis Murphy's case because she was driving her own car when she disappeared. The lack of an Amber Alert does not mean that authorities (and the media assisting) are not actively searching for the missing person. There is a suspect in the case. I suspect, sadly, that Alexis is dead and was probably killed before anyone realized she was missing.

She is listed here:

National Center for Missing & Exploited Children
