I'm now officially impressed with this horse. He ran a 154.84, and two triple crown winners Seattle Slew, and Affirmed ran 154.40's, so he is in some fast company.

Not really, Slew and Affirmed didn't crack the top 10 fastest Preakness times and .40 of a second is a freaking life time. I'm just not on the Chrome train even though I love the backstory. I'm gonna be watching Commanding Curve in the Belmont.

California Chrome was never going to get overtaken in the Preakness, but he was just about to be in the Kentucky Derby. Makes me wonder if they can hold him back long enough for him to win the Belmont.
Espinoza was so happy after winning the Derby, afterwards smiling the whole way but after the Preakness he seemed to have a worried look on his face. Did anybody notice that? I know he said he was stressed during this race but you would think he would have been jubilant afterwards. I just keep wondering about that.

To me if Commanding Curve gets a better start than he had in the Derby the Belmont pace is going to be a lot faster... although on my six look at the Derby, either Chrome was losing speed or was being held back. Can't wait to find out which. Either way, I am betting against Chrome despite loving the backstory. I just want to see a super horse break the jinx because 3 year olds ain't what they used to be.

Actually, if you look at track times they're faster since 1970 than they were before.
