I really hope the CDC can articulate the specific nature of the breach instead of just saying the hospital screwed up because the nurse got the virus.

From this article:

"Education and training of health workers would be stepped up, he said, and efforts would be made to reduce the number of staff treating Ebola cases."

I'm glad they're finally saying this. I've been saying it from the start. There should NOT be 50 healthcare worker contacts for one patient.

Watch for "revised" guidelines. Those CDC honchos all probably ran off to have another meeting to rewrite their words of wisdom.

I've worked with people who came from "ivory towers" where there is never a mistake because everything always works perfectly on paper. And they are the first to point fingers at the folks that execute their plans because their plans are flawless and if you followed their plans exactly there would be no mistakes.

Agreed. Two doctors, three nurses, two lab techs, 1 x-ray tech and two evs workers. The lady who brings food should leave it outside the room. Also, those workers deserve hazard pay .

Nurses are just like other human beings, some are more diligent in following protocol than others.

Each of those machines required experts trained in them. And with 24/7 care you had multiple shifts.

Yes, but see my post above. Minimizing exposure is smart. Once they are on a vent and dialysis, it's too late. They should not be dialyzing the dead, as my friend who worked in acutes put it. Once Ebola has shut down your kidneys, and your ability to breathe, you are as good as dead. I'm sorry to say that, but I've seen nothing to date to contradict my dark view.

And in your vast experience, how many? Sorry to be snarky, but Duncan had multi-system organ failure, and was spewing fluids from every orifice non-stop for 10 days, ie, lots of work.
