Nope, but you can thank Saudi Arabia though.

Here you go, Executive Order 13604 which was intended to speed up the permitting process for extracting from the Bakken shale formation.

If anyone believes that the American oil industry's increased output contributed to the price declines we see today, especially if that belief involves the Bakken shale formation, then it is logically necessary to credit any effort that makes extraction there easier.

An article with more info and additional examples helping ND:
Days Before Casselton Oil Train Explosion, Obama Signed Bill Hastening Fracking Permits on ND Public Lands | DeSmogBlog

My own opinion, I don't particularly give Obama credit for dropping prices but I didn't jump on the bashing for rising prices either.

The OP stole my thoughts!
I too had idiot friends posting on Facebook a couple of years ago, about how gas was $1-$2 for Bush's term but $3.50+ in Obama's. Neglecting the fact that we had 9/11 and that kept gas prices low for a while. Out of blind hatred for Obama.
So if Obama gets blamed for high gas prices then by the same logic, he should get praise for low gas prices. What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the liberal Muslim Kenyan socialist terrorist fist-bumper.

Obama nor the US government had nothing to do with anything ;they haven't had a energy policy for almost a decade.Thank the oil and gas industry; remember those greedy conspirators keeping gasoline high the democrats had so many senate hearings on. Time to remember Obama is when you see those smaller companies in mid west with no pipelines thus high transport cost start to go under. Then remember Obama when it cost the same again to reestablish those fields all over again when they are needed in near future. Its like Iraq;leave then go back to fight what leaving created.

"I'm pretty sure Barack Obama deserves a Nobel Prize in Economics for lowering gas prices."

This. I'm no fan of Obama, but then again, I'm no fan of our dysfunctional political system period. Thus, I didn't blame him when our gas prices were high. So I'm not thanking him now that gas prices are low. I'm just very grateful Our president is not responsible for everything.

He actually set the 2016 35.5 mpg standard in his first term, which the Car companies are approaching now. End result there are many high MPG vehicles on the road now that otherwise may not have been there. On the other hand I don't believe the 2025 54.5 mpg standard is possible.

As a former Dem and current moderate Independent I don't give Obama a passing grade on much, but on this issue I give him an A+.

I was wondering that also. I actually find it annoying that Republicans blame Obama for everything even weather
