I don't understand how anyone less than 30 would be opposed to Cuba unless they were brainwashed by older conservative relatives.
If you think that the Castro gov't is nice and cuddly you are just as out of it as the Cold War hawks are.
FACT. Cuba has an oppressive dictatorship which stifles the freedom of the people to improve their economic condition, to express their views, or to have minimal input into who governs them. The Castro brothers DO NOT plan to change this. Whether it will be up to them, as they become more integrated into US capitalism, is any one's guess, but knowing the attitudes of American business people, the Castro brothers will have to adjust, or nothing will happen.
FACT. Cuba is no longer socialist. It is a fascist nation run by the military NOMINALLY headed by the increasingly powerless Castro brothers. Income inequality is rapidly rising as only those with overseas relatives or close ties to the "communist" party have access to opportunity. For those who don't life is very frustrating.
I want to buy a planation in cuba and grow sugar, mango, coffee, and bananas for export. I also want to make Cuba an American commonwealth like puerto rico like it should have been. Way to much potential on that island to have it in the hands of communists. It is prime real estate and 90 miles from the mainland.
Don't worry. That ain't happening. You do know that if Cuba becomes a commonwealth millions of people raised under a communist regime will ensure that FL becomes as blue as MA. This new wave will be very different from 60s kind of Cuban exile.
Your poll choices are way out of whack. They would have been fine if you left off the haunted house part.
I know a lot of people who have taken their boats to Cuba and everyone came back with glowing reports of how much they liked it and how friendly the Cuban people are.
At one time I had the whole State of Florida as my territory and I especially liked going to Miami because a lot of my customers were Cuban businessmen. I loved hearing about their culture and REALLY LOVED going to their restaurants.............their food is wonderful.
So, yes, I would, and will, go to Cuba when it opens up and cruise lines start making the trip. There are not many places outside the States that I want to see, but Cuba is one I definitely want to visit.
Why would I ;its not like anything suddenly changed from the place it was a few days ago. Castro's brother has a lot of blood on his hands from reports.
We're French, so traveling to Cuba is easy from there.
We spent our honeymoon in Cuba. Beautiful country, music everywhere, nice people... but very, very poor country. We would go again, without hesitation.
My only fear with the US opening the door, and Cuba being geographically so close, is that mass tourism from Americans is going to damage the island by turning it into a big resort (right now only few areas of the country are really "touristy", the rest has a lot of authenticity and character). It will sure bring in more money, but could kill some of the charm overtime. Just my two cents.
Yes I would go. I could not answer the survey because of the tie to the haunted house. Any one who has really wanted to go could have flown to the Bahamas and boarded a flight there for Cuba. I have been told Cuban officials who let Americans in without stamping their passports. Personally I prefer to vacation where English is the primary language.

Isn't that half the reason Cuba went communist in the first place? The tourist part was like a Caribbean vegas, controlled by the american mob. The phrase "Ugly American" was first used to caption a photo of an american tourist in Cuba.
Why would anybody want to go to a place where the residents are constantly trying to get away from?
