I have purchased a couple of motorcycles off a Craigslist add and had no problem what so ever. I will not live frightened but I am usually armed in such situations.

4) if buying a car, GET A VIN # first and see if its legit
Excellent advice! +5!

Tell them to meet you at X on the bench out front. Tell them to text you when they arrive. Wait for them to be on the bench first. This way you can scope the scene and see if you want to proceed. You can just tell when someone is sketchy. I had a guy meet me at a very public place once but he was sitting on the bench wearing black pants, black hoodie with the hood over his head and I couldn't even see his face (and it was 100 degrees out). I saw him from afar and just left.

Then when you leave, even if the transaction goes well let them walk away first. You don't want to risk being followed. Make sure you see where they go and they don't know where you go. I realize this advice is hard if both parties are following it haha but it's worth mentioning.
More great advice! +5!

What a sad world we live in where even a simple craigslist transaction has to be treated with the detailed intricacy of a CIA drop.

I'm not saying all advice given on this thread is useless, just the utter sadness that we feel a need to.

is this not the truth ? ^ I agree with whoever said that we should bring back Ole sparky indeed .You know this is a shame and I wont live in fear but I wont let myself be a victim either another reason I got my cwp and also took the krav maga classes as well ...shame that I had to do all that to feel safe out in public. But after seeing all this going on Im glad I went the extra mile .

I wish I hadn't clicked on this thread. <tears> What a lovely couple and I hope the murderer gets put with romantic Bubba before being executed.

All the tips on using CL are great, and I hope others take heed. I don't think the older generation, especially a sweet couple like this, would have thought anyone would be so cruel. I think the youngins need to warn their older loved ones. My parents would never have had any doubt, this was just a nice person selling a car.

This killer should be shot in the head, twice! I wonder what the price of the car was
or the price their lives were sold for.
