In May of 2014, BreakingBrown reported the case of a black man who was arrested by a plainclothes officer for drinking iced tea in a parking lot in North Carolina in 2013. We are happy to report that two years later, the man has finally been cleared.

Christopher Lamont Beatty, 28, was arrested on April 27, 2013 in the parking lot of ABC liquor store as he drank Arizona iced tea. The plainclothes officer demanded that Beatty turn over his iced tea, but Beatty refused, explaining that he was drinking half-n-half, which is iced tea mixed with pink lemonade.

Dont drink anything in public and the cops wont have reason to roust you

Inexplicably, the district attorney still agrees with the idea of prosecuting Beatty for drinking his lemonade in a parking lot.

“I clearly disagree with the decision,” Assistant District Attorney Charles Scott said. “It’s (a reflection of) what’s going on in many parts of the country. If you arrest or attempt to arrest people, there appears to be great anti-police sentiment in certain quarters.”

that nutburger of a DA needs to be out of job.

Prosecutors pressured Beatty to take a plea deal, but he resisted and is now finally vindicated.
The pleas deal. This is what many prosecutors do to get another notch in their belt so that their political future would be brighter. They don't care how many innocent people they put behind bars. They are not interested in justice. Just too narcissistic. Luckily this guy would not have any of it. He now needs to file a lawsuit.

Clearly he had some other reason for not giving it up. 1 it was not half and half, or 2 he has an authority problem and could not stand the idea of complying with an officer.

Not so clearly. The took it into custody and it wasn't anything but ICE TEA. If I was drinking iced tea and a cop told me to pour it out I would respectfully decline.
