A fraternity fraught with scandal quickly shut down a chapter in Oklahoma [and suspended its membership pending the completion of an investigation] when a video surfaced that showed members singing a racist chant that used the n-word.
. . .
In the video, the students are heard chanting, "There will never be a ni**** in SAE. You can hang him from a tree, but he can never sign with me."
Disgusting behavior by the members in that video, but major kudos to the SAE national president for taking the swift and decisive action that he did. I've long said that, while I understand that people will say foolish, hateful, racist, etc., things when they think they are in the company of friends (note, that in no way excuses such statements/behavior), it is mind-boggling to me that people continue to do so in the age of the cell phone camera, etc. But what is in poor taste will ultimately come to light

Not a surprise at all considering how many tend to insinuate this about how they feel about people of color, but at least they said how they feel out loud...
Too bad, if they had allowed blacks in the fraternity their chant would have had more rhythm and cadence, but they have no doubt been singing that corny chant in private for over 100 years.
I highly doubt this was the first complaint against the fraternity but now that this video has gone "viral" the University has to do something about it.

This seems to be a problem fraternity nationwide, between this, sexual misconduct and hazing allegations.
A friend of mine said the SAE chapter at his school was shut down, too.
One lady on Facebook said the chapter on her campus was called "Sexual Assault Expected".
