Stop the spin! Nobody is "rejecting gay customers". The issue at hand is a customer's request that violates everything we believe in.
It is a bill designed to protect our religious freedoms. It will protect all of us from a government or section of the population that would force us to do what violates our faith, religion and belief system.
So whose rights should merit preferential treatment - the business owner's rights, or the customer's rights? Take the volatile terms out of the situation and let's start there.

....and one that doesn't force business owners to enter into a contract.

The free market will take care of this. The business owner should be permitted to determine who he does business with.
It's just more hoopla at the state level, which will be decided once and for all this summer by SCOTUS. Once it is, this law will either not be needed or will be unconstitutional.
But it's a good campaign strategy to appear that you are actually doing something.

Politics is a pretty busy forum actually. There are already two posts on the subject over there about this anyway.
This will be the next battle after gay marriage gets legalized. Whether or not sexual preference should be protected under anti discrimination laws. And 10 to 1 all these laws will get struck down as well.
The title should read "Gov Pence Signs Bill Protecting Religious Freedom".
