By the way, some statistics in general.
768 people in 2013. 1100 people in 2014 Today there are 311(312) for three months in 2015 In 2014 there was 245 from the same period Killed By Police - 2015
Police lawlessness or increasing the number of criminals?
I can only imagine what would occur had we not had any video. I'm very appreciative of the police and all of the hard work they do every day, risking their lives to make our communities safer. But I'll also call out wrong behavior regardless of who commits it. In this case, even without knowing the full story (the video is clear enough, which is why the officer was charged so promptly), the officer is clearly in the wrong. You don't shoot someone who is unarmed and posing no immediate, physical threat to you or others, in the back. And 8 times at that! If the cop is smart, he'll take a plea agreement. And quickly. No way that any jury/judge allows him to walk in the face of that video (it's no longer a "he said, s/he said" situation). Note, this is a huge reason why I'm in favor of new technology that allows for private citizens to easily capture video of events as they unfold (e.g. camera phones, iPads, etc.). No, I don't like that they diminish my expectation of privacy, but the ability to watch over those in authority, counterbalances any of those concerns.
How many damn times have we heard of a "perp" trying to wrestle away a weapon from an officer?
That rhetoric is damn old already. This isn't Hollywood. And had there not been video, you guys would have been running with that.
So I see. WHATEVER the suspect may do to the police officer, they do NOT deserve violence used against them...
2. Is there proof he attempted to gain possession of this tazer? ...no. But there is proof of a cop planting a tazer next to a dead body.
Like the Rodney King beating we only see the part that makes the police look guilty. NOT the part that shows King doing anything wrong (which he did). BOTH parts are essential for a fair trial regardless of what the "cop-haters" say.
How about we let this go to a FAIR trial cop/authority haters and present ALL of the evidence. Then see what happens then. Let's not just break out the rope and look for the nearest tree. The officer has already been arrested and charged with murder for crying out loud......
There is no evidence of anything that the dead man did to the cop except for the cop's story. You and some others are willing to ignore the video and believe his story. There is something very wrong with that.
I love the part you wrote at the end regarding his arrest and charge "for crying out loud" it almost sounds as if you think that is punishment enough and that he should still be out on the streets or on paid leave or maybe still on duty....nah that couldn't be it...
Actually, didn't the cop have to go back and pick up the taser from the ground? The very beginning of the video shows the dead guy right in close proximity to the cop and starting to run away. That doesn't suggest peaceful interaction at all. But there's no doubt the victim was no threat and the way that he was moving there's no reason the officer simply couldn't have chased him down.
It's about a similar number, but the difference is that blacks only make up about 15% of the population. Most blacks kill other blacks, most white kill other whites. Not many blacks are killed by whites, and if they are it has to do with reasons other than race. If we really want to do something about violent crime then we actually have to look at what the real factors are. Sorry, but white police officers killing blacks accounts for maybe 0.0001% all homicides in the USA -- yet they receive about 99% of the media coverage of homicides. My guess is that you'll find those numbers meaningless too, though.

But, back on point, THIS murder was shameful and tragic and illustrates the type of absolute Neanderthals who can manage to get themselves on a police force...likely because they're too stupid to do anything else, and too undisciplined to join the military. We're talking about a caliber of human being here who is lower than any other. This goon shot an unarmed man as he was running away. Incredible, vile, barbaric behavior second to none.
There is no justification for this no matter how some people will try to spin it, and this goon is going to hang.
Finally a clear cut case that most right-minded people can get behind.
The Michael Brown A hole stealing from and then intimidating a shopkeeper on video then attacking the police officer pursuing him - yea that's a sympathetic case...
This is the case that people should be up in arms about, even though the officer has already been rightly indicted. Get up here and start protesting real police brutality - this is the case! This is where the huge marches should be
Or what makes sense is that the guy started filming when the trouble started, which is how it appears as you see the camera moving. Why would he have been filming him otherwise?
Isn't it cute how he (Waldo) tries to deflect from and downplay the incident?

That wasn't stealing, that was robbery.
Yes, this is the case that people should be bringing up peacefully. This is something where change can happen.

Death isn't the intended outcome but it's an acceptable consequence.
LEO shoot to stop the threat. If you've ever shot anyone or seen anyone get shot, it doesn't happen like the movies.
