Washington (CNN)Kansas is poised to put a stop to the practice of welfare recipients using government aid to pay for psychics with a bill that cracks down on the use of welfare for fun.
It aims to encourage those receiving government aid under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program to spend "more responsibly," as Kansas state Sen. Michael O'Donnell told the Topeka Capital-Journal.
Sounds like a good idea and I hope they can get it to pass. There are many who truly need public assistance but many others who outright abuse it.
Once people get on that public assistance treadmill there is a feeling that they are entitled to the money like they had worked for it.
I say welfare should be put towards a roof over your head, food and other necesities to live. If you want a tattoo, fancy vacation, designer clothes you should get a job.
This country is in so much financial trouble paying out billions to the welfare state.
If Kansas can get it passed maybe other states will follow and put that money saved to better use.
I think the other thread is on Politics and other Contreverseries.
