Obama blocked by own party on Trans-Pacific Partnership | News | DW.DE | 13.05.2015

The senate blocked TPP. Obama and repukes will have to find another way to stick it to the American worker. I'm sure they will have no trouble with that in the end though.

So that still leaves China as America's preferred trade partner. Lol. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Good luck America!

"Skeptical Democrats have argued it would drive down wages and make it impossible for US workers to compete with those in countries with lax labor laws."

Lol, I found this tidbit kinda funny. How can they drive down wages any further? And it isn't the wages that are the problem. It's what the worker is bringing to the table... Nothing. If anything, wages need to rise to encourage some work ethic. And compared to most 1st world nations, America has some pretty lax labor laws that make American labor a bargain.

I agree. And I'm a Republican! While every member of Congress has access to the specifics, they can't release the non-classified portions to the public, which means that we don't have the full picture. That's bad governance. It's not like we are talking national security here. Shame on the administration and Republicans in Congress. If the plan is so great, release all of the details to the public for independent verification purposes!

It's a bipartisan screwjob to the American public.

The democrats are blocking this because of issues that they associate China with. But what's funny is that Obama pushed TPP as a way to stem China's rapidly growing economic clout in Asia. The TPP specifically excludes China and it is meant to counter Chinese economic influence. So, it's hilarious that the dems are killing it with China in their mind, while it was created specifically to counter China as an economic weapon. A bunch of jokers and a real demonstration of the limits of democracy when some dumb people start getting elected based on their windbag abilities and not real brain power.

TPP will not do anything to stop China's growth.

There will obviously be a great many republicans, and even a president, looking to collect. These people live in a world where prosperity is legislated.
