Obama library not the urgent care Chicago needs as protests overshadow 'final campaign' | US news | The Guardian
"There is little hope for the most vulnerable here on the South Side that Obama left behind. The change that his community-activist successors want is an emergency-care facility – long since shuttered by the very school he has chosen to uphold his legacy – that would save young people from dying amid increased gun violence. On Saturday, over alumni weekend, there was a #BlackLivesMatter-inspired “die-in” at president Zimmer’s house.

Residents in S. Chicago don't want Obama's $500,000,000 Presidential Library to be built in South Chicago without the trauma center at same site first being re-opened to treat shooting victims.

I believe they turned this down too.

Looks bad for Obama, I guess, for shooting victims to be treated next to expensive monument of his legacy. That symbolism would not be missed by anyone.

Maybe they understand the fact that those people shooting each other cannot spell the word library, let alone will actually visit one. So, you open something that everyone in Chicago can use.

Why is it the universities responsibility to open a trauma center in the neighborhood?

Right!
Because the people in the neighborhood don't need a Library or Education
If that library helps 10 kids it will be worth way more that a Trauma Center.

Why not use the money to erect an Obama shrine where the sick can touch it and be healed by the messiah? He did heal the planet, didn't he?
