That may not have been an insult, he may just be an autistic, and not know what is appropriate to say. Just imagine a world where you don't dare speak, for fear of reprisals. Not a nice place.
I just hate this society that has had it drummed into it, that it is right to be offended by almost anything, and to always be ready to be violent.
Hope I'm not repeating something that's already been said.
Imagine a World where people "Think" before they speak. Imagine a World where people are not allowed to be offended.
Fortunately, some of us don't believe in turning the other cheek. Those who do, only get slapped on both cheeks.
So I'll line up on the side of the many posters (at least in the first six pages that I read) who acknowledged that as bad as the man was, the woman was worse.
Neither the victim nor the man who defended her were worse than the guy who took it upon himself to judge and insult a stranger - and not a strange man, a strange lady.

I'm a guy who has had his share of hot-headed women. Like you, I'm done with hot-heads. And I hope you find a real man, if you don't already have one.

Which is why only a fool would take it upon themselves to insult a stranger.

Popping some guy just once or twice for insulting your mama *to her face* isn't violence, it's an attitude adjustment. Violence would've been if the son had gotten the man on the ground and beaten the snot out of him, or stabbed him, or shot him.

Any man who pulls a gun on a man who is about to throw a punch is a pansy. You don't pull your gun unless the other person pulls a knife, gun, or other weapon.

That's true in most cases, not all. Someone who is seriously disabled, aged, otherwise not able to fight hand to hand, may not have a choice. And it doesn't mean they are a "pansy". If attacked by a bare handed individual, I could give a reasonable account of myself, without going for my firearm. However, I can't keep it up , for long. If I was facing a serious beat down, and I bad someone else with me, counting on me to defend them, somebody has to lose. And...in such a case, it WONT be me. Armed, or not, if an attacker has the ability to kill me, or render my loved ones defenseless against his physical power, I will use my weapon.
I suppose you can call me a "pansy", but that means little to me. I'm not what I was 25 years ago. And even then, I was limited by a game leg. A serious vulnerability, I have had to work very hard to overcome, and not with 100% success. I tend to carry one or two LTL options, where self defense, in public, may be a concern. I would say these will suffice, in the majority of cases. The options I use, will inflict serious, daunting , pain, very quickly, but nothing is foolproof. Some people like pain, as much as they like inflicting it.
Sorry to say, your post has some holes needed filling. Its just a bit of a wide loop, and needs a bit of perspective.
