While some panhandlers are "down on their luck", others use this as their job...we have a few in our town..EVERY day, all day, begging...and they used to go behind our shop to count their money...and they had a bundle!
If you can stand in the middle of the road all day, everyday, walking from car to car, avoiding the cops, in heat and cold...you can certainly get a job.

That isn't so cut and dried IMO. I know people who have homes and job experience and can't find one..heck my old supervisor who had 25 years at the casino we worked in, is still working 3 part time jobs trying to put together one full time job after 3 years....but you think a guy with no address and no phone number and no clean clothes is going to get hired for something?? Some people, like the girl in the picture in the link, probably could get a job more easily and she should, though.
I understand your sentiment, but nothing in real life is that simplistic IMO. There really aren't as many jobs as there are panhandlers.
Why are white people begging for money on the street when according to some posters on CD, being a panhandling mess and looking for "handouts" is an "urban" problem?
