no one wants to live wild west style, because crazy people, occasionally go crazy. this fear of being "sitting ducks". you put yourself in hundreds of "sitting duck" situations every year. what's stopping a crazed oncoming driver from swerving into oncoming traffic? how do we stop depressed airline pilots from flying an entire plane full of people into the side of a mountain. what is to stop childcare workers from abusing your baby, toddler, non verbal child. if we worried about being sitting ducks we could not function as a society.

Naah, that's commie pinko talk. Guns keep people safe! That's why Europe and Canada and Australia, with tougher gun rules, have like 5% of the gun related crime of the U.S., despite having similar overall crime rates. We gotta keep our Freedumb in the US of A. Uh, right??

No, this is a lie. Israel has much tougher gun laws than in the U.S.

You openly carry an Uzi around Israel and you will be gunned down by police in about two seconds.

Shooter ID'd as Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez.

No surprise here.

ANOTHER typical Confederate flag waving, WalMart shopping, southern white male.

Israeli Military. Not regular citizens. But they carry it everywhere.

This is ridiculous. A military installation, even if its a recruiter's office, should be able to defend itself.

A United States Marine is first and foremost, a rifleman.

A United States Marine knows how to assess a dangerous situation and knows how to react when under fire.

Those Marines should have been carrying sidearms.

I wonder why the shooter didn't pick a police station?

I'd guess police having guns may have been part of the equation.

If you wanted to shoot people, wouldn't it make sense to go where guns are banned? Me thinks so.

Gunman Muhammad Abdulazeez kills four marines in Chattanooga, Tennessee | Daily Mail Online

He attacked TWO different military sites. No one was killed at the first site. He sped off and drove more than seven miles away to a Navy support center--that's where the four victims were killed. Why wasn't the second location put on lock down after the first incident?

Which country is that? It's definitely not the USA... or are you being hyperbolic? About 4-5% of the population has a carry permit. Considering that a large percentage of those people don't carry (I have a permit but don't regularly carry because of work and school constraints) and other people carry who don't have permits, let's go with 4%. Also assume that the majority of the people carrying live in rural areas without frequent contact with other people and where police have response times measured in hours. How is this "everyone"?

Of course there is less "gun crime" in areas with fewer guns... duh. That's a dumb statistic. The question is whether there is less TOTAL crime. It's like banning Toyotas then bragging about how "Toyota crash" violence has decreased.

What's your answer, then? Confiscation of all lawfully owned firearms?

I'm no 'gun nut,' I'm just wondering what you think the solution is. Cat's kind of out of the bag as far as the guns per capita.
