At times it feels like society has selective amnesia when it comes to these things.
Certainly seems that way in the world of entertainment and professional sports, where criminal behavior is always 'forgiven' after a while.
I think the saving grace for things like advertising and business, is that they are a bit more ethical. So people like Jared won't ever become a Subway spokesperson again.
It's more a matter of who's replaceable, and who isn't. Jared doesn't have the exclusive talent of a professional athlete. The entertainment industry is debatable, depending on the entertainer in question.
Liking or not liking the food at Subway has nothing to do with the behavior of Jared.
I've been saying that for quite some time.. People who say "I will never eat at xxxxxx" again Or "I won't shop at zzzzz".. Most of them never ate/shopped there to start with.. Chick-Fil-A, Domino's, Subway, Walmart.. pick the place, insert the name.
I rarely eat Subway.. Just don't overly care for it.. But, what their spokesman did doesn't affect the taste of their sandwiches.. So, it's not going to change my habits at all.. Just as the news about Jimmy John's owner doesn't affect how often I eat there.
I'd have to assume the crime is using the internet to facilitate the sex. Sex with a 16 year old is not illegal in Indiana, though it would be in Florida, you'd think the Florida cops would be the investigators, not the feds.
Once things go on the internet, because everything on the internet basically crosses state lines, that gives the feds the entrance to the case.
Obviously if he videotaped himself with a 16 year old.. Then the Child Porn angle makes more sense.
Sounds like interstate?
