Naguib Sawiris, one of the region's wealthiest men, said "there is no limit" on what he is willing to spend to buy an island from Italy or Greece -- where thousands have been arriving -- to provide the refugees with a new home.
But is he going to provide food, jobs, housing, medical facilities, and all the necessary infrastructure that a large number of people are going to require? Will the island already have all that, as well as a native population to deal with?
Something tells me that even if he can accomplish all that, it won't be good enough for many of the refugees, who probably have their hearts set on the western/European economies and all the resources therein. But that said, at least someone is trying to do something (if it's true).

He said he would hire the refugees to build their homes.
He also started his own political party in Egypt and recommended a name for the new "country" he will be financing..."Hope". Where have we heard that before?
So he has enough money to build a whole new civilization himself, from scratch infrastructurally??? Which he would have to do, because settling on a barren island is LONG financial commitment. Egypt's economy isn't doing that great itself, so I have to wonder how the unemployed and struggling feel about that.
They can always launch a boat to Greece if they get tired of the island
refuge games
Remember the Muslim "refugees" that threw the Christian refugees overboard????
Refugee is a wonderful label
It's a free pass isn't it
