I don't know much about diplomatic immunity, but from what I've read this a$$hat will probably get away with this. He said he could basically get away with murder, and "**** America". No buddy, **** you. I hope they send him back to Qatar permanently.
Not sure if it applies here, but as a school principal I had a brush with diplomatic immunity. My school was in the Virginia suburbs of D.C., and we had a number of children of diplomats. A student from Indonesia got in a suspendable offense situation and when I called the father in for a conference he claimed diplomatic immunity. At the end of the conference I said I would consider my options and notify him of my decision. I called the legal office of our school system and they laughed. They said, "Tell the father that tomorrow you will call the ambassador for an appointment to report to him the seriousness of the offense, and that the school system is considering issuing a public statement to the press about a diplomatic claim of immunity. My guess is that the parent will be recalled to Indonesia." Which is exactly what happened. Now, had it been the actual ambassador, rather than someone under the ambassador level, not sure what would have happened.
