Okay. It probably did happened when I was in the 7th grade (in the dark ages), but in the mean time,
95 bottles of beer the wall 95 bottles of beer if one of those bottles should happen to fall 94 bottles of beer
etc
I still don't think singing a song will scar those kids for life, or make any of them want to blow up anything.
Jeebus, get a grip.
You sound like you're down to bottle #1.
The song won't scar anyone for life or cause them to blow up anything.
This weird teacher apparently wrote the song, and the lyrics go way beyond teaching about Islam to 7th graders. The lyrics advocates for Islam. I already know that for some people separation of church and state doesn't apply to Islam.
This is a 7th grade class though, not HS and not a debate class.
These are 12 and 13 year old kids. What world knowledge do they have to even being to defend a position ? They don't have enough knowledge yet.
I was 14 at the time. I doubt I was significantly more mature than any of them. That said, the writing assignment in question was administered to high schoolers. It is the song - which, again, I did not defend- that was taught to 7th graders.

Ok. And FWIW I do believe in challenging students.
I've done it in school. It really makes them think. But and this is a big but, you also have to make sure they stay within bounds and within the content that they do know.
The geopolitics today of the ME is beyond many adults never mind 7th graders.
I would definitely just stick with culture and not get into the religious politics of Islam.

Considerable different from that song and the one in question. Seriously? You do not see the different. And to use your "logic" no one drinks those bottles of beer so the conclusion you mentioned is a mute point.
I'm only pointing out that some who condone racial and cultural insensitive things in school now disregard freedom of speech and now want thisse things banned.
Who in their right mind wants k-12 public school teachers to have 1st Amendment freedom of speech protection in what they force students to learn.
There is only one word to describe the people responsible for this...stupid.
1. You figure you would proof it before doing it.
2. After proofing it, you should have the common sense to say no to this song.

Well then, do not ever listen to any of the rap "music" most kids sing along with. Given your sensitivities, your head will explode. Islam is pale in comparison.
Unless it was a class on different religions? I had a class in college where we learned about many different relgions including Muslim, Christian etc. It was a great class.
The teacher and the assistant principal both need to be gone; gone from their jobs and sent to an islamic country to live out the rest of their sick lives. I'd rather my child learn about child porn than islam.
Teachers do stupid things sometimes. Low quality teaching is a consequence of constant budget cuts.
B.S. Budget cuts don't change the overwhelming liberalism of academia.
