So why is joe calling out more and more? As you said the WON'T HAVE A CHANCE?
Everyone is saying this. "Cathy Lanier(law enforcement) : I always say if you can get out, getting out's your first option, your best option. If you're in a position to try and take the gunman down, to take the gunman out, it's the best option for saving lives before police can get there. And that's-- you know, that's kind of counterintuitive to what cops always tell people, right? We always tell people, "Don't-- you know, don't take action. Call 911. Don't intervene in the robbery"-- you know-- you know-- we've never told people, "Take action." It's a different-- this is a different scenario."
This was on 60 min. Terrorism is just a different situation. The police most of the time won't get there in time to save you. You're going to have to save yourself if you can.
That is the problem though. The good guys will probably end up shooting each other.
I'll tell you, I'd rather be a casualty in that scenario than be held hostage by a terrorist group. They have my blessing to try and take them out. If I die by accidental fire then I do. I'm not one to just sit there and let it all go down in the terrorist favor. Might as well at least try and minimize their damage. They would most likely kill way more.
CCW does not mean that you are trained to deal with a shooting situation. At least in Arizona, most of the CCW class is going through the law and theory. In my class we did have to qualify and one of the participants had difficulty hitting a target at 5 yards. But in Arizona, you do not have to qualify at the range to get a CCW.
Exactly, that would be like saying everyone who has a driver's license should be behind the wheel, we all know that isn't true.
I used to live in the "dumbhine state"(FL), it was frightening to see who and what was walking around armed. Every once in awhile there would be a story on the news about someone with a CCW permit who took upon themselves to step into a situation. One involved an old man who got his gun and started shooting in a shopping center parking lot because he witnessed a crime. Thankfully no one was injured.
I'm all for gun ownership, but let's not pretend that every legal gun owner is responsible and can handle their weapon.
Sure are. You know, the law abiding people who take a CCW class, fill out 4473's to buy guns, pay the fees and go through all the proper legal channels are the terrorists while the good guys is homie carrying a hi-point in his sweatpants.
It's just ridiculous how the anti-gun crowd likes to use names and call us gun nuts, etc. With accusations like that and talk of wild west-type shootouts, who are the real nuts?
Unless it is the Attorney General of the United States selling guns to drug lords.
The Posse is a regular organization. They go through training. They just don't tell people to go to the mall and bring their gun. The other posters on here do not know what they are talking about.
There is an air posse for people lost in the desert. Horseback posse for similar things. There are several thousand posse members in Maricopa County. They drive identical cars to the Sheriffs department. Some are armed and some aren't. Even in Sun City they have a posse. They mostly drive around and check property, direct traffic at accident scenes, etc.
They don't get paid and save this county millions of dollars a year.
At least they help make up for the millions the county is forced to pay almost every year to settle lawsuits against Sheriff Joe and the county (voters who keep stupidly voting him into office).
They don't make up, though, for the many additional funds he scams from the system to support his too-large-for-a-Sheriff's-paycheck lifestyle. He continues fleecing the taxpayers.
They also don't make up for the lack of law enforcement directed at real crimes in Maricopa County. While Sheriff Joe grandstands and pursues his favorite bigotries he thinks will make him look all heroic and tough, real crime goes uninvestigated, even ignored.
Oh, and the "posses" are a big joke to plenty of people in Maricopa County, throughout the state, and outside the state of Arizona. They've had so many scandalous blunders and destroyed more property, people, and pets with their high- tech, militarized equipment (that they don't need but want to use) than they've actually helped, that they are a laughing stock.
