I think it's much more than economy. There's a sizable population of retirees that buy his act hook, line and sinker. Notice he seldom strays from the "Sheriff Joe" moniker. Simpler times. Much more palatable, kinda like "Officer Friendly" rather than "The guys who pi$$ed away million of your tax dollars to keep himself firmly entrenched in office, all the while standing on the necks of those who have little in the way to fight back and throwing anyone in his way under the bus" (Well, yeah, that is kind of long but accurate none the less)

Looking at your moniker, I have no idea where you are from. But the highlighted sentence makes one think you live in Maricapo (sp) county. If you don't ... doesn't that statement qualify as an ASSumption?

You were looking in the wrong place. See the location note. Close on the spelling BTW, it's Maricopa. I screw it up too...
(yea, I'm plenty familiar with the demographics and Arpiao's Modus operandi)

The location is what I was talking about. Please explain what the alphabet soup means.

Poor Arizona... with a violent crime rate well above the national average.
https://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/uc..._2012-2013.xls

Too bad they just can't learn how to effectively deter crime - but then, when your criminal justice system revolves around crank ideas like "Make prisoners wear pink! That'll reduce crime!" and "Bring your Glock to the food court!", what does anyone expect?

Maybe someday they'll lose the dogma and start getting serious about reality.

I would feel a lot safer in a Phoenix shopping mall (which will be no doubt full of POS Gangbangers) if I knew that there were plenty of armed law abiding citizens around me.

Maricopa County does not extend to the border. The federal government does everything it possibly can to prevent local law enforcement from dealing with immigration issues.
