In the long run, Oil is not good for anyone in the US. High or Low.
Low prices mean a drop in US production, and then more cheap Oil imports come in. That leads to increased use, and also a large trade debt.
High prices mean an increase in US production, with more (very nasty) pollution, and expensive energy costs for everyone.
Best path for US is Off Oil -- without regard to the price.
Without needing Oil for transportation, we could have balanced trade (more jobs here) and much less pollution.
