Saudi Arabia is headed for civil war last time the people protested they increased Oil money payouts. I don't know why we gave them F-15's a country which laws are still in the 14th century.

So? Who cares? They raised gas prices. Not oil prices - gas prices - prices paid by the Saudi consumer. And that effects us how, precisely?

Hint - it doesn't.

Oh, and as for F-15s? First, we sold - not gave - them F-15s. Second, why would we want the controller of the world's largest oil reserves upon which the global economy is highly dependent, which has proven very reliable over the past third of a century in ensuring the flow of that oil, and has served in the post-Saddam Hussein era as the primary regional check on Iran, to have a regionally dominant air defense?

Gee, let's think about that...

On second thought, we don't need to ponder it for more than about half a second because the answer is so glaringly obvious that I should be (but I am, sadly, not) astonished that anyone can fail to see it.

We sold it to them because they were going to buy something, so it either was us or the Russians. While Israel first objective, it was explained to them that it is better the Saudi's rely on the US which can pull strings like not provide parts, rather than Russia which would provide the weapons no strings attached no matter the conflict.

What does the US get out of it? The defense industry which is influential gets money. What does Saudi Arabia get out of it? The ability to do what they want without criticism from DC, and support for the regime from DC.

I feel really bad for them. They now have to pay $1.00 for a gallon.

This is a very simplistic view to say the least.

Pretty sure Saudi gets second rate equipment like M1s with steel instead of composite armor and inferior computers, can anyone confirm?

Saudi Arabia is removing a fuel subsidy due to tight budgets with regards to oil prices.

I don't think it's that earth shattering.

Imagine the pain that Iran, Venezuela, Russia etc. are in.

Heck, Canada is feeling the burn too...their currency has lost 20-25% of it's value vs. the US Dollar as it's heavily tied to oil prices.

Gee, anyone remember all those threads about how we should be more like Canada and how it's a utopia providing free health care etc etc? They've got budget woes too.
