OK ... there are all kinds of things wrong with this story, and I don't mean the alleged act of child cruelty. This is just a really horribly written story, with lots of unanswered questions, like: How do you get a 3 yo into a washer?! Who leaves their young kids with a 14 yo boy OVERNIGHT? And is this story REALLY generating "international outrage?" Give me a break!

And then we have this bizarre quote by the mother:

"I’m upset, but at the same time I feel like I can`t really sit and cry and I need to keep both of my kids happy, not as depressed about it,” mom told WANE-TV.

WHAT?!

This happened in rural NE Indiana ... nobody up there EVER does drugs so that can't be it.

I had a babysitter who was a mother and full grown adult let my kids hide in the washer and dryer when they were 4 and 5 years old. They fit...I mean they aren't huge kids. It was the older kind, not the new front loaders. So kids will fit. Let me just say, I did NOT have that sitter back no matter how much fun my kids thought she was (and they thought she was a blast...god only knows what else she let my kids do).

I also saw a news story of a young kid dying in a washer recently.

And I do get the quote from the mom. If something rough happens you need to be able to talk about it, but when it comes to kids, you cant make it about you. You have to keep yourself together so you can focus on the wellbeing of the child, and not make it all about you.

I get the quote from the mom too, and find it incredibly refreshing. Charge the teens with assault or whatever the appropriate charge is, and don't act like your child's life is ruined. She got bruised up, by some extremely irresponsible teens who won't have access to her again.

Just keep swimming. That's the best she can do for her kids, show some ability to soldier on and deal with it.

Cute little girl.

This is an old story. I wouldn't be praising the mother until you have the whole story, and there are numerous websites discussing it. She left her kids with these cretins overnight, and later announced to the world that her daughter had probably been raped. The media wouldn't have printed that with the kid's name. No wonder the kid is traumatized. Then the family plastered the story all over social media and started a GoFundMe page. Attention ******. The mother was 20, and her children 5 and 3. No good ever comes of kids having kids.

Sorry. Saw this on a local news site and didn't realize it was so old.
