The version of this story that I read sounded as though the parents are blaming the makers of Chips Ahoy (child-killing flavor). They were very careful to state that their daughter COULD NOT SEE the Reese’s label on the packaging.
I dunno, maybe I’m completely off-base here, but since she was dead 90 minutes later it seems like they might not have had enough time to ascertain what the child did or did not see, quite as precisely as the article states.
Lawsuit. Which the family will lose.
The cookies sound delicious. I’m going to look for them at my local store.

I thought most kids know what Reese's are, especially if they have peanut allergies. I wonder if she is from another country and wasn't familiar with American candy products.

It sounds like the girl made it home before the shock set in, so it seems possible she could have told her parents that she accidently ate peanuts because she just looked at the color of the bag. I could see that scenario potentially happening. But I'd agree the words seem to carefully chosen by the parents, and they certainly leave the door open for a lawsuit.
If I were a high schooler today, I'd go into allergy medicine. There's something going on, all these allergies weren't around 20+ years ago when I was a kid. Someday, hopefully someone figures out the trigger.
[quote=PriscillaVanilla;52522474]I think it's not the nuts themselves that contain allergens, but how they are processed in facilities that causes the allergens. I'm not sure, though. [quote]
Peanuts of any type, processed or not, can cause an allergy attack.
