That DA, and sheriff's office and her lawyer all need to answer for this.
Did no one have a simple conversation with her before they were at trial?
The lawyer basically went in to court never having met or spoken with her client? Not even a simple, "tell me your side of this story".
It also seems to me the ex-husband could’ve dropped the charges at anytime, said it was a miscommunication. If he could have and didn’t he really is a jerk. Anyone who truly loves their child first and foremost, would not deliberately do things to harm their other parent, whom that child also loves.

I agree. Embarrassingly, I spent some time looking for his name and couldn't find it, which is really unusual for me because I can dig up dirt quickly when I try.
This story deserves a legal kickback. Why did the prosecutors actually take it to TRIAL, over a $200 phone, why was the exhusband able to create this chaos, and why was her lawyer completely ineffective in getting this dismissed immediately before there was any talk of an actual trial?
Misdemeanor theft is never taken to court trial. And it appears no one asked any questions at all.
Suspect dads manipulative and persuasive. He falsely represented the situation abusing the justice system as means of harassment. I have doubts this took place due to court negligence. In some instances, its all about who you know.

If that's true, then I bet the dad works in the legal system or has friends who do. I feel badly for her. This probably won't be the end of it.
They also shouldn’t be undermining each other’s discipline. It sounds like when she gets punished, she runs to dad and complains, and he intervenes on her behalf aggressively.
Absolutely. I'd pack her up and hand her over. What sucks is child support becomes the issue instead of what's best for the kid.
