A former NASA engineer, fed up with the problem of porch pirates, has come up with a "Kevin McAllister"-ish way to fight back. This video got 9 million views in a single day, hitting YouTube's #1 spot. Merry Christmas, ya filthy animal.
Seems somewhat fake. Did he contact the police to arrest these people afterwards? The box had a GPS signal on it. Why block their faces? They are CRIMINALS!!!!!!!!

To prevent being sued. From my understanding you can't used someones face without permission and even if they are criminals he's not the law.
I saw this video and loved it. I seriously wish dude would build and market them for sale.

1) He clearly explained in the video that when he notified law enforcement about a package theft that he was told that the police don't have the resources to investigate such crimes.
2) The GPS signal is irrelevant to all the cases except for the one where the stolen package was brought to a home. Cars are mobile, you know.

3) They have been convicted of nothing, and given the stance of local law enforcement they won't be convicted of anything. Under those circumstances, only a complete fool would have publicly revealed their identities.
I about lost it at 7:09 when the thing starts spraying.
I was watching it in bed with earbuds last night, and was laughing so hard I woke my husband up. I was literally holding my nose and mouth trying to stay quiet.
I would love to to see "fake package" options become common enough to deter these criminals. Maybe a package that sprays permanent stain all over the person, like what the stacks of money at banks have. Yeah, a stain all over your face and body that tells the world "I tried to be a porch pirate but was BUSTED!"
He needs to market those boxes!!! He could include cheaper ones without the cameras and GPS, but he should replace the glitter with green ink. Just knowing is good enough for me.
Hubby says to buy the boxes with cash only. Leave no paper trail for the cops to follow when the thief tries to sue. It'll be his word against our when he claims he picked up the package at our house. Yes, thieves are stupid enough to start a lawsuit.
