She's supposed to have been in a vegetative state since a near-drowning accident 14 years ago.

Sadly, this is not uncommon. We had a similar case here in upstate NY in 1996, and a NH employee was subsequently convicted of rape.

There was an episode of Law & Order with this storyline. The mother of the woman wanted a grandchild and paid some dude to knock her up. Creepy.

Yes, it's not uncommon...sadly.

Can't think of anything more infuriating. It just makes you sick.

There is a lot of abuse that goes on in rehabs, nursing homes and hospitals. Often times the patient is unable to defend or speak up for themselves.

Let me get this straight, nursing staff (who presumably include at least LPNs/LVNs) and or some professional nurses (RNs) didn't notice this woman was pregnant for all of the nine months.

No one noticed even the slightest change in this female's figure, weight.... anything during AM/PM care, bathing, changing or whatever.

Hope this woman's family sues the pants off this place. The funds can then be used to provide financial security for the wee tyke.

Hope so too....

they've known for months she was pregnant, wonder what the investigators are doing, asking male employees for DNA??? Could even have been a visitor but employee seems more likely, he would be familiar with schedules and surroundings.

The last time I heard of a nursing home rape the man was found not guilty/reason of insanity.

Care in these types of places often isn't the greatest. It's also group care, not individual care. Still, they should have noticed something, at some point.

I thought these places had surveillance cameras. Time to put up a few, and also to review employee files from the time of the crime forward, to see if anyone's quit in the last 9 months.
