Ik it's messed up, but I initially laughed at first too. So crazy that this even happened, luckily the child was born healthy. Now we know you don't need all those Doctor visits while pregnant.
You did?
How anyone could find one iota of humor in such a headline is beyond me.
totally disgusting ( the rape) I hope they can find the rapist.
You know what is disgusting to me? When first reaction to human suffering is to cast blame and exact vengeance. To the full extent of the law. No matter what the cost. Even if it causes further suffering, to more people.
The nursing homes look upon comatose patients as cash cows. Some families have religious beliefs against "pulling the plug." That's a couple of reasons; there may be more.
They're a cash cow only if they have good insurance or a wealthy family. As an RN in FL, I can tell you we had many patients sitting around the hospital for MONTHS waiting for discharge to a nursing home because they didn't have insurance, too young for medicare, and no nursing home would take them.
..staff often vanishes. Plenty go to sleep, get on the computer, and or otherwise spend a good part of the night shift doing anything else but patient care.
Ugh. We nurses work our butts off, have way too many patients than we can safely care for, and are on the computer as a part of our jobs because we have to document every last butt we wipe to cover own own a$$e$ in case of lawsuits. But yeah, blame the nursing staff. Everything's always our fault. Don't ever blame the owners of these places for crappy staffing levels, or poor medicaid reimbursement rates which makes it difficult to hire proper levels of staff, or anything else. Nope, blame the nurse!!!!
