Um, yeah it is. That's like saying The National Enquirer is no worse than Wall Street Journal... and if you really believe either of these claims, YOU are why nobody can tell the difference between real and fake news anymore.
Even if you can argue that NYT has a political bias (which is admittedly true), at least they don't just make up stories for sensationalism. The NY Post literally does articles like "Aliens have landed, and they've taken over Trump's body!!" Hardly the same as posting factual stories with a slant.

This is not a made up story, though. So everyone can stop with freaking out about the initial source, multiple other sources have been cited, including CNN.
Honestly, what does his being overweight have anything to do with the alleged absurd request?
My best guess is that if he didn't weigh 440 pounds (as the article alleges) he would have been able to reach behind himself to wipe. Also, because of his size he had difficulty in the tiny airplane bathroom.
Gizmo never said it wasn't true, and neither did I. We called it "clickbait;" its sensationalist nature is what caused it to be picks up by the usual yellow press outlets in the first place. Clickbait doesn't have to be untrue in order to be .... clickbait. Sure, the story made a micro blip on CNN, but with a government shutdown going on, random shootings in various parts of the country, extreme unrest in Venezuela, etc., etc., legit news sources aren't going to give this much press. C-D posters sure seems to be lapping it up, though.
All this means is that the guy is a vulgar pig who shouldn't be allowed on that airline again.

C-D posters do love the tabloids.
A simple Google search shows absolutely no legit sources for this.
Clickbait. These kind of outlandish things gets clicks, and the more clicks a site gets, the more they can charge for ad revenue.
The bolded was not true, btw.

Difference between us and some people, however, is that we stopped to consider the source once we opened it. Way too many people these days just grab the link and run with it, which is how misinformation spreads like wildfire.
The bolded was quite true on the search I did. I guess it just wasn't interesting enough to me to look beyond Google's first page. I just did, however, and even the second page is all tabloids. All those legit sources must be buried on the following pages, idk.
I have no problem believing this vulgarity happened. I also have no problem believing that so many C-D posters consider it legit news. Although, honestly, it's not the sort of thing one someone automatically believes without investigating for themselves, and all I saw was tabloid after tabloid after tabloid.
Looks like this thread has some competition now, though, from the one about the passengers who stunk so bad they were asked to leave the aircraft.
