1st world citizens going to a 3rd world country and expecting high quality unlimited food and drinks...
An all inclusive hotel/resort in the USA would cost $$$$$$ mega bucks. Why do we expect a 3rd world country to offer this? I imagine the USA and European hotel chains don't have strict QA and QC standards when it comes to food and beverages. Corners are cut in order to lower the operating cost at these all inclusive hotels (recycle food, cheap liquor, water down sodas/alcohol, fake alcohol, etc)
Sounds like somebody has a financial interest in keeping this quiet...….bottom line is DR is a $hithole with beautiful beaches and you have a much better chance of being robbed, raped or sickened if you go there rather than a more civilized vacation spot..Lots of great places in the world to visit but I'd stay out of DR and Mexico.

Or maybe they're just expecting not to be poisoned. Doesn't seem too unreasonable, even for Third World regions whose economies depend on these tourists.
WHY are people still vacationing there before determination of all the factors in these cases? Seems best to get to the bottom of these deaths before placing yourself in harm's way...
I just read the Washington Post link above that says:
"Last year, nearly 6.6 million people visited the country; more than 2.3 million of those were from the United States."
What I haven't heard (maybe I just missed it) is whether tourists, visiting the Dominican Republic, from other countries are getting sick, too.
