I can't accept that a reasonable adult would place a toddler on a hand rail, in front of an open window, with a 100+ foot drop below.
There's obviously something wrong with the grandpa that would cause him to do this. Cause yes, no reasonable adult would place a child on a railing in front of an open window and then let go. Grandpa did not act like a reasonable adult would.
We all can agree that this was a tragic, horrific incident and feel empathy for all involved, including Grandpa.

Many of us believe the grandfather thought the window was closed. I know there are many many people who say there’s no way he couldn’t have known, but I believe he did believe it.

Perhaps he didn't know but the window being open was just one factor that led to her fall. Just like most tragedies its an accumulation of a number of events.

Even if you thought a window was closed, why would you put a kid on top of a railing against a glass window, 100 feet above the ground? Anyway you spin it, it doesn't make any sense. Anyone who does something that dangerous with a child, needs to go to prison.

Why people do it? I heard it called "live a little." Why people are calling it at worse a serious mistake? They have done similar acts such as leaving their toddlers unattended on a high places because they have 'good' balance. They think being right next to them would make them a helicopter parent.

Because she wanted to bang on the glass which has been stated multiple times. We will just agree to disagree on jail I tnink he’s been punished enough.

It wasn't 100 feet above the ground.
It was about 3 feet above the floor.
Since you're acknowledging he did not know the window was open, are you saying people shouldn't go up close to windows on high floors to look out?

This is one of the claims I simply don't get. Does it make sense to not only encourage but assist a toddler banging on glass?

I don't see a huge problem with it. She was used to doing it at the hockey rink, where it's apparently traditional for fans to do. She certainly couldn't bang hard enough to damage it.
