It’s actually the Cowardly Lions fault. He was gentle and easy going, resulting in multiple generations that now believe lions are gentle and easy going.

Maybe they are 'safe' but swimming in the thermal pools is not permitted in Yellowstone: https://www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/safety.htm.

You talk about how rational people will not be influenced; but not all of us are rational.

Once you toss in the number of kids and parents with mental health issues; it is easy to see why so may are influenced by what they see on TV and in the movies: https://www.nami.org/NAMI/media/NAMI...Facts-NAMI.pdf. Here is the link for all Americans and mental health issues: https://www.nami.org/NAMI/media/NAMI...ralMHFacts.pdf. Keep in mind that many of those, in those statistics, will end up visiting our large state and national parks. They will live out the fantasies they learned on TV and in the movies.

You can? Maybe it’s the hiker in me that’s had more then enough run ins with bears, etc that understands that a wild animal is WILD. And by the way deers are dangerous too.

Most people with mental illnesses do not have any problem differentiating fantasy and reality. Now you are stereotyping the mentally ill. More of the people in those statistics suffer from issues such as depression and bipolar then diseases that cause them to lose touch with reality completely. Relatively few people fall under that category. And I don’t think many of them are visiting national parks.

Even if a schizophrenic person went to the zoo and tried to pet a leopard, I wouldn’t think Disney is to blame.

I have to wonder if people are assuming that they believe they are top of the food chain when they go to places like Yellowstone.

Probably, they are, because for the most part it's true. Bison have almost been hunted to extinction by humans.

Dude, cats don't try to "save people". Animals don't have human emotions.

A deer can kick your butt if you threaten it. A wild rabbit will bite and scratch you if you pick it up.
