Irresponsible dog owners are everywhere and they aren't going anywhere. I don't really like dogs, but they will be dogs. I blame owners. I get tired of seeing animals get killed for doing things that are natural to them. It is usually the fault of SSH (Some Stupid Human).

ive never had to do it thankfully, but i would imagine it is very difficult to stop a pit bull attack on your dog. id probably carry a good pocket knife if i were worried this may happen.

It is difficult. Break stick.
My female pit was a bit dog aggressive at times with certain dogs, generally my sons up and coming. I had to split them up a couple times. I've gotten too old for that crap that is why I wont have another. I love them but if a fight breaks out their tenaciousness is a challenge, one I dont need. (none of my pits weighed that much, 35-45lbs.)

I have had many dogs in my life, my dogs and fostered dogs, and none have ever attacked any other creature. why? they were either always leashed OR if off leash very well trained to come when called under every circumstance.

Horrible tragedy that this beautiful seal was killed. it was the owner's fault, not the dog's fault.

i looked up "break stick." its interesting to have to use that on your own dog. my dog can be pretty scary but she has never actually attacked anyone or anything in that manner and everytime i yelled at her to come back to me she has.

I don't own a dog now and haven't for a bit but with the popularity of the various mauler mixes around me, I would make sure I carry a break stick and my 1911 while walking the dog if I had a little poodle (or any dog).

Having owned several breeds I find that's the difference in Pitbulls and other breeds. Mine never attacked any human, only another dog occasionally, a goat once and a chicken once. Its when two pits go at it I have had to break and literally pull them apart. Too old for that crap now.

Now the hounds dont fight but if they catch a scent, its heck to call them back. Shock collar worked for a time but they learned if they push through the pain they will be out of range in a few minutes.
