Unfortunately, only the back end is freed according to your links, it moved about a hundred feet. They're saying once the high tide comes that it could raise the water in the canal 18 inches. They're working on unsticking the other end, it's stuck in a clay sand mixture. Apparently the high and low tides can do damage to the underside of the ship, it puts stress on different parts during the low tides due to the amount of cargo it's holding.
Apparently unloading will be the next thing they attempt to do to try to lighten it some more.
It also sounds like they may be able to get some ships to pass by it today at some point to get traffic moving.
I've been following the story. What a mess. The dang thing shouldn't be so large that it would/could get stuck sideways in the first place. Shorter ship or wider canal.
Even I figured that out.
