Exactly. Lots of workers over the decades have lost jobs after the business changed hands or shut down. We didn't cry about it and weep "Oh, Poor me". We strengthened our resumes and found other jobs. That's just life.

Very true. I've worked at a couple of places which treat their employees very poorly. I'll never go back to either one of them, and warn anyone I know to avoid them.
There's honestly no reason to treat people with such disregard. My current employer is very fair to its workers. It's stock has done better than any other company I've worked for, growing about 200x in 30 years. I wish I'd known about this company when I was younger.
Yes, layoffs are sometimes necessary, but it can be done with some regard for people and their families, or as a complete s#!t show as Musk is doing here.
The article says they are being paid, and receiving benefits, through an official severance date in February. My understanding (which could be incorrect) is this should satisfy the legal requirement. It's not unusual to escort people out the door immediately during a layoff. The company is probably concerned about potential sabotage.
I'd have to guess that morale is in the toilet. Does Musk have anything resembling a plan? The little I've read about this does not suggest any plan. Seems like a multi-billionaire with ADD acting out.
I’ve never really heard of Twitter being a prestige Silly Valley employer like Google or Apple is. I suspect that a lot of good employees who survived the original purge are also considering better career options at this point.
