Holy smokes, you certainly twisted that out of its context.

Funny, though, nobody has yet mentioned "Vehicle" by Ides of March.

I have no comment about Beatty's proclivities or his guilt or innocence; however, I disagree with you firmly about whether it was unusual for men to chase after 14-year-olds.

It was never normal or even close to normal.

I think you will find it to have been quite normal in biblical times.

Your post just had me reading the age of consent on Wiki. Interesting.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ages_o..._North_America

For example in Canada...

During the 19th century, the age of consent for heterosexual vaginal sex was 12; in 1890, the Parliament raised the age of consent to 14.
The Tackling Violent Crime Act took effect on 1 May 2008, raising the age of consent from 14 to 16.

And in Mexico the legal age can still be as low as 12 in some areas.

In the US it used to be 14 in many states and legal to get married. My older brother had a drivers license at 14.
In 1973, when this is alleged to have happened, the legal age in California was 18. IF Warren Beatty did indeed statutorily rape this girl, he broke the law.

So rich in detail. Great acting from both actors. And picture/word perfect to the language and attitude of that time. The women said they wanted "sexual liberation" and they weren't kidding! And daughters followed mothers, as they so often do.

Or the song "Young Girl" by Gary Puckett and the Union Gap:

"Young girl, get out of my mind
My love for you is way out of line
Better run, girl
You're much too young, girl"

It became a Gold record, selling over a million copies in 1968.

@ catsmom21

Or "I Saw Her Standing There" -The Beatles.

This song.

It happened for me and my love exactly as in the song, at a sock-hop. And I was 20, just returned from Viet Nam, she 15. We had a happy loving relationship for one and a half years, till I foolishly fell for the longing to see what else was available. I was her first; she remains my best girlfriend memory and I love her still.

Crossing the room, with your eyes locked on her, and making your request for her hand in full view of hundreds; that's the way to do it; you don't see that any more.
