Wool in 70 degrees? Wool is way too hot for me to wear no matter how cold it is. So my answer is, the only creature who should wear wool is a sheep.
Really? Have you ever worn wool? It’s a very breathable material. It’s great in the heat. I can point out many examples but since this is the cycling forum, you do know that wool was a great material for cycling right?
It’s one of the most versatile of clothing material available. I’m honestly confused about people perceptions of wool. I mean, a pair of nice wool pants feels good and looks good. Besides, what else do you wear to work when you are a professional? Chinos are too casual for my role. Only other thing that comes to mind is polyester.
You must be thinking of the weight of the wool? There are lightweight, very high quality wools that are perfect for the hottest of summers.
Yeah - 70' F? They would have to be a good quality summer-weight wool, and if they were, I would not ride anywhere in them. It would wear out the crotch. I'd put on chinos or shorts for the ride and change at work.
I have to go 2.2 miles to work but still prefer to bike in slacks and a t-shirt and then change into dress shirt at work. Also I keep my dress shoes at work and bike in Keen Austin SPDs.
I keep a selection of shirts at work that I wear twice before bringing home and washing.

Oh, and BTW, I like wool. Great material.
I never have a problem with the pants being too hot - the legs don't sweat much. It's my back and neck mostly.
