Wool slacks, undershirt, button down shirt, a tie.

Some slight and short grades but for the most part, the terrain would be flat.

For the temp, let’s say 70F and not too humid.

With the outfit you described I could probably tolerate up to 5 miles in 70 degrees. I would not like to arrive at work sweaty and stinky. I use hair gel and it would be uncomfortable sweating.

-Cheers.

I have ridden about 5ish miles in my work gear. But I ride about 90% of the time in "normal" clothing. For me that means a dress. I also rarely go more than 5ish miles in one spurt. I mostly ride for errands and the like.

I find as long as I have properly layered, sweat is mostly concentrated on my brow/face. Easy enough to clean up!

I hate riding in jeans though. I feel really hot!

I guess that depends... how many climbs?
No more than 10 miles as I start sweating.

At a minimum no tie. Put it on when you get to work. Used to carry a fresh shirt to work with me. Changed when I got there. Now I keep spare clothes at work and change completely. Feels better.

People with professional careers. What material is better than wool? What are the alternatives? Are your suits polyester? Rayon? I'm all ears.

Wool in 70 degrees? Wool is way too hot for me to wear no matter how cold it is. So my answer is, the only creature who should wear wool is a sheep.
