The GF & I were talking about going to South Padre Island, but got to thinking about it & drove to Panama City Beach, Florida instead. At 11 hours drive from Tyler its only like 1 hour further than South Padre & we even stopped in the Big Easy for a couple of nights which was lots of fun.

Florida Beaches are far better than Texas beaches. I was seriously jealous. Sugary white sand & emerald green waters. What more could you ask for?

Florida beaches are indeed nice, especially on the Gulf side. We love Siesta Key and the Sanibel beaches. We have found San Antonio a nice middle of the way stop for us on the way to SPI, we love the River Walk. The drive south from San Antonio is a breeze, hardly any traffic and you can make good time.
