Hey all, my family is from Waco but now they are all over the place. I'm looking for a good location to do our yearly family reunion but I'm having problems finding what I need. We have a lot of over 80's there and I was hoping for a nice simple cabin/camp ground with a large hall to rent for a weekend or somethin like that. I guess a hotel with a conference room would be ok but I really want the older generations and the kids to have some good memories together like around a camp fire or something like that. Any thoughts? I would really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks
Becky

Lake Tawakoni seems to be good for this.

Palestine or Bridgeport have campgrounds with cabins.

Winfrey Point or Big Thicket at White Rock Lake -- hard to book, but great - you have to go through Dallas Parks and Recreation Department.

Dreyfuss Club burned but is being rebuilt.

White Rock lake seems pretty ideal. Though if its in summer the heat may be a bit much for the older folks. Many cities and towns have rec center and often allow people to rent space. Granger Rec center in Garland has an annex building they often rent for reunions, church groups, and such. It has a full kitchen, A/C, and lots of open space, and its located next to Central Park so you would still have outdoors.

I thought Sandy Lake Amusement Park did reunions, also.

Sandy Lake does have the amenities for reunions however no over night camping or at least not that I recall.

Lake Murrary in Oklamoma not far from the Texas boarder has cabins and the lake use to be pretty nice.

There is also a place north of the Colony that use to be pretty nice. I bet the Chamber of Commerce could help you with this one. I think their may be two places up that way. One in the Colony and one just north of the Colony. Again the chamber should be able to help you.
